SCOTUS stands for Supreme Court of the United States, and you’d be forgiven if you thought that “supreme” meant “excellent” or at least “sensible.” Sadly, this is not the case.
With an oversupply of loathsome decisions in its turbulent history, our highest court is an institution sadly in need of resurrection.
The problem is that decent appointees are outnumbered by sub-human creatures. Far too many right-wing nut-job treason-weasels have been allowed to attack democracy from within the judicial branch of our government.
While entire books have been written about the evil decisions by SCOTUS, what follows is a quick list of their treachery — the lowest lows of the highest court.
Dred Scott — Dred Scott versus Sandford denied citizenship to any “negro, whose ancestors were imported … and sold as slaves.” It was such an odious decision that it took two amendments to the Constitution (13th and 14th) to rectify the error.
Shelby County — In Shelby County versus Holder, the racist faction on the court took a straight razor to voting rights, merrily slashing away at one of the essential principles of democracy.
Citizens United — The decision in Citizens United versus Federal Election Commission is a “greed goon” blunder. By allowing candidates to be backed by virtually unlimited funding, the justices have perverted our political system by burying it under a shit-ton of money. (Sorry to get so technical at the end there.)
Bush v. Gore — In order to throw the 2000 presidential election to a fellow member of The Pestilence, the GOPers on the court engaged in a substantial amount of legalosity (a word I made up that means “gobs of words Republicans use to rationalize screwing America”).
West Virginia v. EPA — By siding with the polluters, this decision reveals the GOP’s lack of concern for future generations’ ability to breathe.
Burwell v. Hobby Lobby — With this blatant sop to religiosity freaks and Christo-fascists, the court revealed its utter disdain for separation of church and state.
Plessy v. Ferguson — In this hateful decision, the court ruled that there could be “whites only” areas in the U.S. The result: score another win for the racists.
Dobbs — As of this writing, the execrable decision in Dobbs versus Jackson Women’s Health has doomed millions of women to needless suffering when seeking medical care. The conservative cabal has returned us to the horrors of back-alley medical treatment. Dobbs is one of the most revolting decisions of the six syphilitic douche-nozzles who have infested SCOTUS.
Current Corruption — The hypocrisy and conflicts of interest in the John Roberts court are astonishing. Reactions range from “disgusting” and “anti-American” (from decent people) to “no biggie” and “bidness as usual” (from conservatives).
Clearly, SCOTUS’ festering mess reeks.
And clearly, there needs to be a reckoning.
Great piece - hope you don't mind but I reposted on Post and Spoutible - T
Agree - court should be expanded.
